Can you build websites with donation functionality?

Yes, we integrate donation platforms, event registration, and volunteer management tools.

Choosing the platform before designing the page

The donation platform decision shapes what the giving experience can look like, so it belongs early in the project rather than after design is locked.

The category has consolidated significantly. Classy is now part of GoFundMe. Bonterra absorbed Network for Good, EveryAction, and Salsa. Qgiv now operates as Bloomerang Fundraising. Knowing who owns what matters, because roadmaps and integration support shift after acquisition.

The platforms we see most

Givebutter has strong donation forms, broad payment method support, and free core functionality. The tip prompt on its checkout does confuse some donors, so the surrounding copy needs care. It also lacks a member portal, which rules it out for membership organizations.

Bloomerang is the stronger dedicated donor CRM when retention and major gifts are the primary workflow, with pricing that scales by constituent count.

Donorbox is lightweight and pairs well with a CMS-driven site when online giving matters more than deep CRM functionality.

Classy handles enterprise peer-to-peer and large campaign days, including the traffic spikes those produce.

Fundraise Up focuses specifically on conversion optimization in the checkout flow.

Neon CRM is usually the better fit for membership organizations, associations, and chapter structures, because dues renewal, member portals, and sub-organization hierarchy ship natively.

Most of these run on Stripe underneath, which simplifies the payment layer considerably.

Embedded, hosted, or custom

Three integration patterns, with a real tradeoff between them.

Hosted donation pages send donors to the platform's domain. Fastest to implement, least design control, and the handoff moment is where some donors abandon.

Embedded forms keep donors on your site inside the platform's form. A reasonable middle ground and what most organizations should choose.

Custom forms on the platform API give complete design control and the smoothest experience, at the cost of more build and maintenance. Worth it when giving volume justifies optimizing the flow.

Recurring giving deserves the most attention

Recurring donors give substantially more annually than one-time donors, and the gap is large enough that recurring should be the default rather than an option buried below the one-time amounts.

Practical things that matter: presenting monthly first, showing what a monthly amount funds rather than just the number, and making it easy to update a card without contacting staff. Failed recurring payments from expired cards are a quiet, significant source of attrition that account self-service largely solves.

Beyond donations

Event registration, peer-to-peer campaigns, volunteer signup, and membership all commonly need to connect. The important question is whether they share a constituent record or create three separate databases. Organizations frequently discover after launch that their event attendees, volunteers, and donors are unconnected, which makes cultivation nearly impossible.

What we do first

We ask what already exists, what your team can realistically maintain, and where constituent data should live as the system of record. Then we design the giving experience around that rather than bolting a platform onto a finished design.
