Fractional Digital Marketing Manager

Remote

Contract / Freelance

Reports to:

Account & Strategy Lead

Collaborates with:

Senior Brand Designer & design team as needed

About the Role

Social Design House is a creative and branding agency that plugs into client teams as the strategy, design, and marketing muscle they don't have in-house. We're looking for a Fractional Digital Marketing Manager to own content calendars, scheduling, posting, SEO initiatives, and community management across a set of client accounts. This person keeps messaging and social strategy aligned, working closely with our designers and strategists to drive execution across multiple smaller engagements — all within our established agency framework.

This isn't a solo, do-everything-yourself role. Asset creation stays with our design team, using brand templates already in place. This role keeps content moving and strategy aligned across accounts, working alongside a creative team rather than running production solo.

What You'll Own

Content Calendar & Planning

  • Own the content calendar and planning layer for assigned client accounts, aligned to each contract's cadence (quarterly planning sessions, monthly post volume commitments)
  • Align on messaging and social strategy with the Account & Strategy Lead and the client
  • Run planning sessions with light check-ins from the Account & Strategy Lead

Social Media Management

  • Write captions and post copy in each client's brand voice
  • Coordinate with the design team on post assets so each account hits its contracted volume
  • Manage the approval and revision cycle directly with clients
  • Own day-to-day scheduling and posting across assigned accounts
  • Stay current on platform-native trends and best practices across Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and emerging channels

SEO Initiatives

  • Manage on-page and local SEO efforts across assigned client accounts
  • Monitor Google Search Console data to identify opportunities and flag performance trends
  • Oversee and maintain Google Business Profile listings for applicable clients
  • Coordinate with the team on content aligned to SEO priorities (blog posts, landing pages, etc.)
  • Use tools like Semrush, Ahrefs, or SE Ranking to track rankings and surface actionable insights

Community Management

  • Handle monthly post replies and likes
  • Run monthly comment and community audits
  • Proactively engage with client content across channels

Reporting

  • Build and deliver monthly reports that show real value: follower count, impressions, engagement, lead generation, and more — not just a raw metrics dump
  • Flag performance trends and recommend adjustments

Client & Account Coordination

  • Serves as the primary point person for client social media and SEO initiatives, coordinating with the Account & Strategy Lead on broader account strategy and client communication.
    • Responsible for as-needed client communication and coordination.
  • Bring asset requests to the design team as they come up

Ideal Platforms & Tools

  • Collaboration: Google Workspace, Microsoft 365
  • Communication: Slack, Zoom, Google Meet, Loom
  • Project Management: Teamwork
  • Social Media Scheduling & Analytics: Metricool
  • Web Analytics: GA4
  • SEO Management: Semrush, Ahrefs, SE Ranking, Adaptify
  • Local SEO: BrightLocal (bonus), Google Search Console, Google Business Profile
  • CMS / Website Editors: Webflow, WordPress
  • Graphic Design: Canva, Figma
  • AI Productivity: ChatGPT, Claude (Cowork, Code & Design), Gemini
  • Link Management: Bitly, Rebrandly, UTM.io, URL Builder
  • Tag Management: Google Tag Manager

Nice to Have:

  • Email Marketing: Klaviyo, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Brevo, Campaign Monitor
  • Behavioral Analytics: Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity, Crazy Egg
  • Integration & Automation: Zapier, Make (Integromat), n8n
  • CRM: HubSpot, Salesforce, Zoho

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience managing social media and SEO for multiple client accounts simultaneously (agency experience strongly preferred)
  • Highly tuned into social media trends and platform-native best practices, with a pulse on what's working right now
  • Solid understanding of SEO principles — both on-page and local — with hands-on tool experience
  • Comfortable coordinating with a creative team and directing asset needs, rather than producing every asset yourself
  • Confident reading analytics and turning them into reporting that shows real value
  • Reliable, deadline-driven, and comfortable managing multiple accounts within an agency framework

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience as a Digital Marketing Specialist or similar role
  • Demonstrable experience managing multiple client accounts in an agency or fractional capacity

Engagement Structure

  • This is a contract/freelance role with hours and rate determined based on experience and project fit.
  • Location: Remote
